Your Place or Theirs?
In our many discussions, one idea put forth involved moving back to California and sharing a home. That way we would be closer to my brother and sister's family.
But there was the Pearl Harbor factor to consider. You see, my Dad was a survivor of the Pearl Harbor Attack. Since retiring, he had volunteered at the Arizona Memorial. He gave talks to visitors telling how he survived and how it changed his life. (You can read his story on the website we created for him at www.joemorgan.org) It became clear to us that my Dad's talks at Pearl Harbor were his main source of purpose and meaning for living. Because moving to California would have taken that away from him, we chose to stay in Hawaii. MORE>
