Are You Called and Equipped To Be A Caregiver?
Our move to the same city where my parents lived was not a coincidence. Before then, my Dad was talking of moving to a retirement community in Austin, Texas. My Mom vetoed that idea. She was willing to move to California to be closer to their three children, but not stuck out in the middle of Texas without family around. I called one day and said, "If we move to Honolulu, will you stay there?" They said, “YES!"
 In other words, though we moved to Honolulu to do church ministry, we had another agenda. From the time the topic of assisted living was broached, we offered ourselves willingly as their caretakers. Although I knew nothing about elder care, I was committed to helping my parents. MORE>
